A Collaborative Stand Against Societal Prejudice and Mental Health Stigma
Keki Adhikari, in collaboration with SOMTU Vmag and Idea Studio, organized a special screening of her film “Boksi Ko Ghar” at Civil Mall for SOMTU students. The film, which tackles the serious issues of witchcraft accusations, child marriage, and societal superstitions against a young widow, aimed to raise awareness and provoke discussion among the students. This initiative provided the students with free access to the film, fostering a deeper understanding of these critical social issues.
In this video, Keki Adhikari participated in a Q&A session following the special screening of “Boksi Ko Ghar.” When asked about the objectives of the screening, she explained that students serve as ambassadors for social awareness. Adhikari emphasized that the film was made at great risk, with the purpose of eradicating superstitious beliefs from society. When she was asked why she chose such a sensitive issue for “Boksi Ko Ghar” despite the risks. She explained that the concept emerged during the COVID lockdown and highlights the psychological trauma faced by a girl accused of witchcraft. Adhikari noted that such injustices still prevail in some parts of our country. Her aim is to raise awareness and voice against these societal injustices.
